Process

Discovery

I wanted to ensure the new Playmates feature integrated seamlessly with the app’s existing functionality and features. As part of my discovery process, I used the app for 1 week as both a dog owner user and dog walker user so I could audit both sides of the user experience. I interviewed Rover users to build user profiles and collated key user data which I then used to inform the product strategy and initial wireframes.

Development

To supplement my design thinking, I completed market research to gain a better understanding of UX best practice in and out of industry, looking at apps such as Bumble and AllTrails alongside direct Rover competitors. I worked with Rover’s existing brand palette and developed new UI details and user flows. I tested the early-stage prototypes with the users I’d interviewed which helped to shape the final UI development.
